Our Structure

The purpose of this page is to shed light on how Trinity United operates. Once this page is complete you will be able to review how business is handled, what each board or committee is responsible for.

At Trinity United we have two main boards of which there are multiple committees and sub-committees.  The Board of Session, and the Board of Management.

The Board of Session:

The Board of Session normally oversees all of the “spiritual” aspects of the life of the church. Baptisms, weddings, service planning, Holy Communion, Scripture Readers and other special events which would fall under worship or Christian Education.

The Board of Management:

The Board of Management normally handles the “business” aspects of Trinity United, ie. financial, management of properties, and staff. There is a committee which oversees staff which is called the Ministry and Personnel Committee ( M&P Committee).

The Ministry and Personnel Committee (M&P):

Members:

Walter Cull (chairperson), Gloria Roberts (Secretary), Sandra Colbourne, Ron Budgell, Lloyd Elliott, and Vida Black.

Meeting are held one week prior to Board of Management meeting.

Terms of Refrence:

  1. Providing a consultative and supportive agenct for Church Staff, and for members and adherents of Pastoral Charge.
  2. Reviewing working conditions and remuneration of Church Staff and make appropriate recommendations to the Board of Management.
  3. The relationship of Church Staff to members of the Pastoral Charge and others.
  4. The relationshipbetween and among different Church staff members with respect to their responsibilities and authority.
  5. Consulting with all Church staff members re continuing evaluation leading to necessary changes and improvements in their specific roles.
  6. Annual review and evaluation of the effectiveness of Church staff members as those persons and positions relate to the Pastoral Charge’s program, as defined by the Official Board or West District.
  7. Maintenance of close liason with the Pastoral Relations Committee of West District.
  8. Reporting quarterly to the Board of Management or more often if circumstances warrent.
  9. Period liason, individually or as a committee with church staff members.
  10. Recruiting and recommending to the Board of Management Church staff members, such as, Organist and custodial people when such vacancies occur. Also, to expedite the recruiting of clergy.
